grunge | a new take on a new year

someone once said, rules were made to be broken. while i would definitely not condone this attitude in every situation, i do believe you can apply it in certain areas of styling and fashion. 

i always hear (and see) the hype for dressing-to-the-nines for new year's celebrations. that's great - and believe me, i love polished looks and i loved to be dressed up. but this year i decided to grunge it up a bit when it my new year's eve look.

to keep the feel of being dressed for a special occasion, i chose a shirt and tie and layered it with a blazer. but, of course i wanted to grunge it up by pairing it with a pair of ripped up, destroyed jeans and boots. 

for me this is the best of both worlds. i get the comfort and cool of one of my favorite pairs of jeans, but i get the touch and polish of being put together.
