blade tank | part 1
coming up on summer, the tank top is a sure-to-be-seen item. if you are anything like me, you see a tank in a store and breeze right by it without giving any thought to it. i thought i would step outside of my box this year and go for it. i would try to make a tank top work. the graphic was cool. it looked easy. so i went for it. i got it home. tried it on. i wasn't very impressed. i had it on for maybe a minute before i determined that it was just not for me.
i returned it. about two days later i saw an instagram post by my friend, asianna, and she had styled this tank in a really neat way. yes. she took a men's tank and made it look great on herself. so i got to thinking. i had not tried very hard to make the tank actually work for me or even see the possibilities of looks that could come from it.
i decided to rise to the occasion. i repurchased the tank.
here it is, the tank in question.
how asianna (@iamayevee on instagram. follow her.) styled it.
i know. it looks great, right?!
after some creative thinking, i thought about what i mentioned in a previous blog post about layering being my signature go-to. i ended up coming up with two looks based around this tank. for this post, i am sharing look 1. i decided to put it together with other pieces from the current guess collection. to give it some edge, and to keep it trendy, i paired it with a waxed moto jean and layered it with my favorite faux-leather sleeve jacket. to pull it together i chose my margiela boots to complete the look.
here is my first take on the blade tank.
'blade tank' | guess
cargo jacket | guess
'alameda moto jeans' | guess
watch | guess
what do y'all think? did i pull it off? don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone every once in a while. it's fun to switch it up every now and then and see what other styles can work for you.
